The Institute for Rare Isotope Science(IRIS) is now accepting Technical Beam Time Requests from interested domestic researchers. Please note that this is a special call, not a standard PAC-reviewed proposal, and is intended to support technical development efforts.
The call opens on July 14, 2025 and the deadline for submission is August 3, 2025.
Following the submission period, the MTC meeting will be held on early August, and the results will be announced by mid-August 2025.
Approved experiment are expected to be conducted between September and November 2025.
The contact spokesperson of the experiment must register on the IBS indico page (https://indico.ibs.re.kr/e/TB2025)
Purpose
The Institute for Rare Isotope Science (IRIS) invites proposals for Technical Beam Time Requests for domestic Korea users. This special call is not a standard Call for Proposals reviewed by the PAC, but intended to support
- Detector and instrumentation tests
- Pilot experiments to test feasibility of a new experiment or technique
- Machine study or characterization of new beams or experimental systems
- Any other technical activities requiring RAON beams
and will be scheduled for the period from September to November, 2025.
Conditions
The Technical Beam Time will be offered with the following conditions:
- Suitable beams and technical resources be available based on operation schedule
- Requested beam time be limited to 2 BTU (two days)
- A report of the experiment results be submitted within 15 days after the experiment to the IRIS User Support Office (user_support@ibs.re.kr).
Application
Spokespersons requesting beam time must submit the Technical Beam Time Request form to the IRIS User Support Office (user_support@ibs.re.kr) by August 3, 2025.
If necessary, the spokesperson of proposals will be required to give a short presentation at the RAON Machine Time Committee (MTC) meeting.
Important dates
The spokesperson for each proposal must register on the IBS indico page (https://indico.ibs.re.kr/e/TB2025) and complete submission form. The content of the proposal should not exceed 5 pages including the cover page, references, tables and figures. Use 12 point (Times or Calibri font) for the text. Proposals will be kept confidential but will be made available to IRIS staff for reviews.
Proposals are requested to include:
Safety Review
The Safety Management Office at IRIS will review all proposals for safety issues.
Contact
Please contact the user support office, user_support@ibs.re.kr for any inquiries.
